bad news hit when my powerbook died all the sudden. good news is i bought the new imac G5. its really cool. the new imovie is really easy to use and with its processing power, i just edited a mini clip i shot at the car wash this morning.it comes bundled with a new software photobooth- takes picture of the user with the in built isight. what's cooler is it screws up faces.

finally a rest day

it feels so good to wake up to no agenda. well, at least its not other people's agenda. with video girl gone i found myself attached to the sound that she always makes when she pats me on my back. umkmm! what kind of a sound is that? unusual. i found it very endearing. i got to say i really miss all the monkeying around with her absence. 2 months is not too long. i can do it. wait. mail. write love letters.

Life story

I'm lying on my bed back at my mum's writing this entry sms texting style with my mobile phone. I'm just too lazy to go out searching for a unsecure wireless network with my laptop. Its way pass my bedtime anyway. With too much work on hand and alot on my mind, its funny how i could still think so much while i was walking home from eva's. I saw a cab pulled over and i remembered how i thought it might be cool to be a cabbie for the hack of it, then i told myself i'll be the best cabbie i can if i ever land myself a job as one. It made me think of how i have been toying with the idea of expanding my horizons beyond my current business. Would i be a chef? An artist? Or even venture into the wedding videography business without having to do anything except provide the equipment and wait for money to grow. The possibilities are endless. Its not hard to imagine. Any one needs a job as a videographer?

zo si mi

zo si mi???
what will i do if i am not a photo grapher? do i really work for myself or am i really doing what people want me to do? some years back, someone asked me if i will stay as a photographer for long. i simply relied "forever!" well, work is still work and i have come to a point where i ask myself- do i really want to do what people want me to do, or do i want to do what i want to do. will i be a photo grapher all my life? i know i wont run around shooting weddings at 50.

lately, i have been thinking how cool it will be if i am a game programer or a comic strip artist.

i did not grow up wanting to be a photographer.

other things i wanted to do when i grew up

1. teacher
2. pilot
3. artist
4. chef

all this watching jamie oliver and tony boudain on tv has made me dream of cooking and living happily ever after. perhaps i could start wtih being a little famous making blog appearances. doing anything else will be easier then.

how do i get that TT coupe, that house i always wanted, my life, my partner, my family, my life...? maybe i start illustrating my own life comic strip

perth holiday

subiaco sunset
Originally uploaded by elisabeth montgomery.

4 trips in 4 months after, i am finally enjoying my days resting, doing almost nothing in laid back perth. 2 days of work and 5 days holiday, not bad for a change. i am enjoying evey bit of it before i head back to the crazy schedules back home. clients are already calling, chasing deliveries, deadlines, etc, etc, etc...

the stay here is good. its not as laid back or slow as i expected it to be. i love the swan river, i just love water- there is so much life where the river flows. the city isn't really all that developed. thats probably good since there is so much potential with what the WA government can do.

a $3 million house with a river view, that is just not possible in singapore. on a more down-to-earth side, a house for $300k just unheard of back home. how about this- a ferrari for $300k? you can buy 3 here for the price you pay back home. ha. a hyundai getz for $18k, you can't even get a van with that kind of money.

its one thing to be holiday and another to be living in this city. its one lovely town to be in. perhaps i might live here someday.

retirement maybe? hahaha

when i was a boy, i wanted very much to be a pilot. i was a very chubby little boy and that got many uncles teasing me "you sure you can fit into the cockpit or not?!" well, that did not deter me from giving it a shot. at least i flew 10 sorties and quit, 10 more sorties and i will get my private pilot's license.

years on, i still haven't regreted my decision to be passionate about my first love - creative arts.

somewhere along the way, i also got inspired by the cook shows, food fairs and BBQ by the sea on east coast park. i thought to myself, i could be a chef! i can't say i can cook.

so i thought, if i wasn't a taking pictures, i could be cooking. at least i can't say i am bad at eatiing.

when i am happy i sing.
just like this picture. i was happy when i saw this shot.

You & I Both
words & music by jason mraz

Was it you who spoke the words that things would happen but not to me
Oh things are gonna happen naturally
And taking your advice I'm looking on the bright side
And balancing the whole thing
But often times those words get tangled up in lines
And the bright lights turn to night
Until the dawn it brings
A little bird who'll sing about the magic that was you and me

Cause you and I both loved
What you and I spoke of
What you and I spoke of
Others only dream of the love that I love

See I'm all about them words
Over numbers, unencumbered numbered words
Hundreds of pages, pages, pages forwards
More words then I had ever heard and I feel so alive
Now you and I, you and I
Not so little you and I anymore
And with this silence brings a moral story
more importantly evolving is the glory of a boy

you and I both loved what you and I spoke of
and others just read of and if you could see now
well I'm already finally out of

and it's okay if you have go away
just remember the telephone works both ways
and if I never ever hear it ring
if nothing else I'll think the bells inside
have finally found you someone else and that's okay
cause I'll remember everything you sang

you and I both loved what you and I spoke of
and others just read of and if you could see now
well I'm already finally out of words.

i will be back

8 days tokyo, a few hours in singapore and a 7 hours flight after, i finally got to the maldives. tired and in need of sleep, i embarked on a new assignment fresh out of my holiday in tokyo. its like a roller coaster ride from then on. the trips made over the past 4 days probably earns me enough mileage to fly free back here again if the miles program covers travelling by sea in the maldives. so here i am 4 days after reaching here. tired but happy to know its the final day before i fly home to be reunited with my sick kitty. miss her. the saga of the photo boy and video girl continues too! its been a good time spend away from each other. that way, i can tell who and what is really tresured. a day off is all i get and all i need to recharge before i head back to the crazy world of photography again. its been crazy, nonetheless, a hell of a ride!

ps: maldives, i will be back.

Attack of the kan cheong spider

I'm sitting in the cab searching through my bag hoping to find my mp3 player. Can't find it. Of course its not there, the headphones are on me. This will be my first mobile phone blog entry. Mobile telecommunications has made blogging while rolling over the sheares bridge at 100km/h possible. Perhap doing one thing at a time will help me concentrate and not forget where i put my things. Shucks! Its pouring in the west. Guess the shoot at the zoo will have to be postpone.

1206hrs

i am really tired. i am here. not MIB(Missing In Blog)

no. i haven't wash my body with shampoo again. just as tired but not that blur this time.

i always have this feeling that time is running out for me just before i leave the country. be it for work or for play, i am always swamped with work right before i make my getaway. so the next 48 hours is just going to be packed. i love jack bauer in 24. i am not about to be the new character in 48.

TUESDAY

morning
red dot shoot

afternoon
tea with ah meng and other lovable characters at the zoo.

evening
dancer to be shot leaping into an "X" with CBD in the back
then tuesday group.

WEDNESDAY

morning
mitsubishi electric. hope they won't make me shoot the boss in the fridge.
then
shoot chinese, malay, indian, angmo kids pretending to be reading ABCs in class, smiling

afternoon
teachers. pictures might be blown up to live size.
my contribution to help students honour their teachers on teachers' day

evening
pack my bags.

i hope i haven't miss anything out.
then to be really forgetful these days.

guess this beats sitting in the office all day.

i am back for now.

so here goes-

dear blog,

i am happy today. not cos ida bachtiar suspects that i am gay but cos i have reconciled with an old friend. the friendship soured awhile back. i basically did not want to have any association with this guy. well, i was wrong. something happened earlier this week. i had a thought- life is so short. and so i thought- why not lose a foe and regain a friend. so the chance came today for me to send him a bottle of wine and flowers for his exhibition opening. well, that wasn't an excuse for my absence at the event. i was actually laughing my head off listening to a visiting pastor from norway on his take on the new convenant and the church around the world now. he was really funny.

i just thank GOD for his insight. the pastor's.

i also thank GOD for bringing two friends together again.

so what is this talk about the adventures of photo boy and video girl?
perhaps i will find time to tell you more tomorrow blog.

so the two friends live happily ever after...

aqua lungs

mistral
Originally uploaded by elisabeth montgomery.

Mistral
The new Mistral is a modern version of the original double hose regulator invented by Aqua Lung founder Jacques Cousteau and Emille Gagnan in 1943.

Modern single hose regulators release exhalation bubbles directly from the mouthpiece in front of the diver. These bubbles can obstruct the diver's view and have long been a complaint with underwater photographers. Double hose regulators have the unique advantage of releasing the diver's exhaust bubbles behind the diver's head and not obstructing the field of vision. Double hose regulators also perform very well in icy waters where single hose designs could freeze up and quit working. This is because the diver's humid exhalation doesn't pass over the moving parts of the regulator, which could cause ice crystals to form.

i started my day this morning with a moment lost in translation. stepping out of my room i see a stranger, a japanese girl whom i later learnt had slept over in my housemate's room.

"akiha!" she announced her name as i shook her hand and before i could introduce myself, she went on "yes i akiha, you akira" i did not know what to reply at that moment, being just out of bed.

i asked if she would like some coffee and then i went into the kitchen to make us some. we sat on the tatami (how appropriate this household item came to be) and chatted over coffee. akiha pointed to the post it pad on the coffee table again saying "akira!" it was my name she was refering to. apparently that turned out to be my name translated to japanese.

"you mean like kurosawa?" i chuckled, amused that i share first name with the famous film maker. PAWS decided to show up and she got introduced on the post it pad too.

kinokuniya, seiyu, takashimaya, murakami all were involved in my efforts to make akiha feel more at home. she has come to singapore all alone to stage an exhibition with a singaporean girl this wednesday.

i know i won't leave home for japan without any post its.

akiha comes from a family of creatives. dad is a graphic designer, mum a copy writer, eldest brother is a painter and second brother a photographer. she is still training to be a printmaker and she lives with her family in tokyo, japan.

if i didn't have to work on saturday or to meet up with an old friend on thursday. i might have killed myself sporting all week. i have to say that its a very interesting routine. i realised that i have been keeping fit but not really healthy when it come to the intakes. my fried food staple is the culprit. i have made conscious efforts to stay away from any oil drenched food lately as much as possible. my attempt at supplimenting vitamins to my body prove to be very unpopular with my taste buds. the super multis are simply too fishy. if its not doing any good, i swear i would have just stuck to taking lots of fruits and vegetables. seems like fishy pills are here to stay as long as they relief me of my fatigue.

i couldn't sleep without having the cd delivered to fotohub. so at half past two in the morning, i took the bike out for a ride. on the way back i decided i will work on a little project, journaling my travels on the bike. 79km after, i am still in one piece and ready to get out there for more. i got to sleep now. haven't done something like that in a while. it just started raining and the morning traffic is building.

its time for me to dream

yup there is no hidding
the cat is finally out of the bag.

my 3 year old tabby has since become more adventurous, scaling desks, window sills, balcony railings and the fridge. while at it she's been all coy and flirtatious with our visitors that past through. first sniffing a little at her new found alien, closing in next to rub her coat on you, finishing up by sitting next to your feet- a signal for you to start patting her.

if you are good enough, she might even purr.
let's just say she is here to stay, for a while. happily.

she is fat.

friends

a friend is a person whom one knows, likes, trusts. a friend could be an acquaintance, a comrade, one who could sympathize with or patronizes. the word history search i came up with defines a friend as a lover, literally. going back a millennium, the old english word friend was simply the present participle of the verb fréon, “to love.”

i am glad i have a healthy circle of friends who "friend" me.

i have had some lousy experiences this past year with people who aren't so friendly or wish not to "friend" me anymore. a good friend of many years and i had a disagreement earlier this year. when confronted by another friend who thought he might know me, he answer plainly "ahh.. dont know him that well, but his works are not that great". well, he is damn right, he is not a friend anymore.

forget it, give him a call. kiss and make up already. people tell me. well, for the record, i think he said some pretty nasty stuff and i think people don't forget about things like that move on without any reaction. i decided that i could no longer befriend him. i don't befriend hypocrites.

thankfully, the world is kind enough to have kinder people. true friends. friends who say what they do, and do what they say. and yes i am very thankful for their existence in my life. many i have encounter of late just like to promise but could never deliver.

kiss and make up already, i am letting all this out of my system and yes life goes on.

life was getting a little too routine one day. meeting friends up, that i that i cherish but its getting difficult since most of my pals are attached and need time out with their mates. i must say its tough make good friends these days. for a while i was happy with just talking to PAWS, seeing PAWS in the morning, and coming home to PAWS. if she could talk back and kept me company not just with her presence, i would be all fine but we just don't live in a fairy tale.

i had to find something to do when i am free. i just got to find a distraction. something new to do.

i have been wanting to own a bike since i lost mine at grandma's eons ago. so finally, something click this week. after much temptation from checking the bike shops out, i have finally settled for a SCOTT Yecora. got some opinion here and there but after a couple of afternoons out with terz, i finally made up my mind and nail down a purchase. its a beauty. i think i just wanted a ride badly. all that technical jargons just didn't mean much to me before i made the purchase. now that i have ridden on a serious mountain bike, i am beginning to appreciate and making conscious efforts to find out the mechanics of the bike.

i have also started making a new photo project with my little ixus. i will photograph the places the rides bring me.

PAWS, doggies have them too

PAWS
Originally uploaded by elisabeth montgomery.

i had a cat when i was a boy. i can't really say that she was mine. she was more like a stray that hung out at grandma's.

i don't hate or dislike dog, i just prefer cats though i have forgotten the reason for the choice. its only PAWS's first week here and i have learned a little more about them.

dog lovers would claim that dogs are more attentive, affectionate and responsive. i believe that that is mostly true.

just constantly being aware of PAWS at home had me understand more about cats. she isn't affectionate, not yet, but i do remember cats being coy, flirtatiously shy but not insociable, generally. she hasn't been the most attentive little cat but i do find that she has become more responsive in my presence over the days.

give it a couple of weeks i was told and she will be a cool companion to have. i once told a friend that maybe i should look for a girl who prefer cats to dogs. my exs been dog lovers so far. Jean just got a miniature schnauzer, whiskey, he is a boy.

yes the pussy cat is harder to handle but i believe patience pay.

misunderstood

i was upset when she said that. i believe that i have been misunderstood very much. i replied lav saying " i must have a know-no-lack-of-babe-face then".

sigh. i have been misunderstood so many times. what is it about this face of mine? why did my ex think i was checking out other girls when all i ever think of was to spend every moment of my life with her?

i love my cat. well, she must have mistook me for a bad man. "he must be a know too many cats kind or man."

PAWS is just not very happy with me for now.
