funny enough, i am going to be using water in my work again. i shot rain in '03, got my phone drown 3 days ago and now i am going to work with water again.

its been a very dry year. all work and no play. of course i have been resting, its just no play as in no fun doing work. i just haven't been actively doing my arts. perhaps i really did too many last year. well, it looks like its time for me to do some art again.

the intentions of having an underwater show staged popped up in '98. i think it should be materialised very soon. and what better way to do it then to go back to diving.

what happen to dive and drive 2002? got into diving and still i haven't booked the advance theory test since i thought about it last week.

resolutions are beginning to resurface again. life just can't get more interesting.

the unthinkable happenings

sony ericsson has produced a winner. the results were unthinkable, superb. 2.0 megapixel camera in the phone, who would have thought of that 2.0 years ago? it unthinkable that i have own one now. it was even more unthinkable that i bought it because my bag decided to feed water to my nokia 6230 killing it instantly. it was of course also unthinkable that all my contacts were in it. yes, there was no backup, how unthinkable could it have gotten?

3 am. i saw the website and realised that martin parr is the k750i poster boy. perhaps that was why i decided to get a unit at 11.00am. unthinkable.

it was also unthinkable when i hear that the ex has been taking photography lessons of late.

it was unthinkable that j__e's number got drown with my phone too.

unthinkable that i have been working on an assignment since april. that was when i decided to break the corporate photography routine a little to check out the editorial scene.

$100 for 3 pix the editor confessed upfront.

unthinkable!

the remuneration after from the wining and dining industry could be unthinkable too.

everything could just be so unthinkable!!!

i am just glad i am a feeler and much less a thinker.

aqua lungs

mistral

Mistral
The new Mistral is a modern version of the original double hose regulator invented by Aqua Lung founder Jacques Cousteau and Emille Gagnan in 1943.

Modern single hose regulators release exhalation bubbles directly from the mouthpiece in front of the diver. These bubbles can obstruct the diver's view and have long been a complaint with underwater photographers. Double hose regulators have the unique advantage of releasing the diver's exhaust bubbles behind the diver's head and not obstructing the field of vision. Double hose regulators also perform very well in icy waters where single hose designs could freeze up and quit working. This is because the diver's humid exhalation doesn't pass over the moving parts of the regulator, which could cause ice crystals to form.

i haven't dive in a while. to be precise, i haven't dive in 2 years. reading this got me all excited. yes, fishy here i come.

A day of ABCs

"dude, you got to do it. its now or never."

the boys were urging me to ask J___ out. we met nearly a week ago and i told her i would ask her out for a drink sometime. news came from amie that J just ended a relationship. i just don't think it wise to make a move now.

and then m sent " hey your _X is taking a basic photography course here with D_____."

i was upset. i was sick. then i thought for a moment and i decided that it wasn't her i was angry with. "why didn't she ask me a single question about photography when we were together?"

B____ was not feeling too well. She spoke to A___.

C___ ___ was furious, he probably didn't get my joke and decided that S____ might have been cheating on him.

what a day indeed.

turning thirty

30. that is still awhile away for me. some want to make their first million by then. some worry that its the point of no return and yet others make fun of it that no right person in their minds should turn 30 being a virgin.

i believe life begins at 30.

i am just curious what will i do when i turn 30.

post it!

i started my day this morning with a moment lost in translation. stepping out of my room i see a stranger, a japanese girl whom i later learnt had slept over in my housemate's room.

"akiha!" she announced her name as i shook her hand and before i could introduce myself, she went on "yes i akiha, you akira" i did not know what to reply at that moment, being just out of bed.

i asked if she would like some coffee and then i went into the kitchen to make us some. we sat on the tatami (how appropriate this household item came to be) and chatted over coffee. akiha pointed to the post it pad on the coffee table again saying "akira!" it was my name she was refering to. apparently that turned out to be my name translated to japanese.

"you mean like kurosawa?" i chuckled, amused that i share first name with the famous film maker. PAWS decided to show up and she got introduced on the post it pad too.

kinokuniya, seiyu, takashimaya, murakami all were involved in my efforts to make akiha feel more at home. she has come to singapore all alone to stage an exhibition with a singaporean girl this wednesday.

i know i won't leave home for japan without any post its.

akiha comes from a family of creatives. dad is a graphic designer, mum a copy writer, eldest brother is a painter and second brother a photographer. she is still training to be a printmaker and she lives with her family in tokyo, japan.

first time

istana
Originally uploaded by elisabeth montgomery.

all this time i have been around, i have never stepped into the istana. i guess, my job really brings me places. it was the NUS cenntenial medical dinner and LKY was Guest-of-Honour. security was at its usual all time tight. the assignment was boring. the place was less of a fortress and more like a garden. its a visit i would recommend.

weak after week

sunday rock climbing

monday running

tuesday cycling

wednesday basketball

thursday nil

friday swimming

saturday nil

if i didn't have to work on saturday or to meet up with an old friend on thursday. i might have killed myself sporting all week. i have to say that its a very interesting routine. i realised that i have been keeping fit but not really healthy when it come to the intakes. my fried food staple is the culprit. i have made conscious efforts to stay away from any oil drenched food lately as much as possible. my attempt at supplimenting vitamins to my body prove to be very unpopular with my taste buds. the super multis are simply too fishy. if its not doing any good, i swear i would have just stuck to taking lots of fruits and vegetables. seems like fishy pills are here to stay as long as they relief me of my fatigue.

coming soon: diving, squash, etc...
